Transport & Logistics Operations

We are currently seeking an experienced Fleet Controller to join a well-established national logistics and transport operation based in Forrestfield. This is a fast-paced operational role responsible for coordinating drivers, scheduling freight movements, monitoring fleet activity, and ensuring compliance with fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.

This position plays a key role in ensuring freight is delivered safely, efficiently, and on time while maintaining strong communication across drivers, operations, customers, and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily fleet scheduling and dispatch activities
  • Monitor vehicle movements and respond to delays, breakdowns, or urgent freight requirements
  • Maintain ongoing communication with drivers throughout shifts
  • Ensure compliance with fatigue management, load restraint, and CoR regulations
  • Liaise with depot operations, customers, subcontractors, and maintenance providers
  • Support route optimisation and fleet utilisation initiatives
  • Maintain accurate transport, compliance, and maintenance records
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and operational escalations
  • Work closely with planning and operations teams to meet service expectations
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in fleet coordination, transport scheduling, or dispatch
  • Strong understanding of Australian heavy vehicle regulations, fatigue management, and CoR requirements
  • Experience working within high-volume transport or logistics operations
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make decisions in time-critical situations
  • Strong organisational and multitasking capability
  • Competent computer skills across Microsoft Office and transport systems
  • A proactive, team-oriented, and safety-focused mindset
Desirable Experience
  • Exposure to fleet management or transport dispatch software
  • Heavy vehicle licence (HR/HC/MC)
  • Experience coordinating heavy vehicle fleets and driver compliance
