Job description

The Company and Project:
Multi-billion dollar infrastructure project that will change the lives of thousands of people and the city of Sydney over the coming years.

One of Australia’s longest standing and trusted engineering organisations tasked with delivering the full systems scope of works. This includes state of the art tunnel systems, electrical and control systems.
  
Key responsibility:
Cost estimation and pricing of client initiated modifications to this major infrastructure project.

Assistance in the pricing of additional changes and variations that occur, which may include changes that are needed as a best approach to the delivery of the completed project.

Due to the nature of the role, close liaison with the various subcontractors and suppliers is essential.
  
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Understanding of scope document to be priced
  • Liaise with engineers and designers to ensure scope is complete and comprehensive
  • Production of standard pricing templates
  • Quantity calculation and preparation of pricing document
  • Dividing scope into sub-packages where necessary
  • Produce and transmit sub-packages to major subcontractors or suppliers, including ongoing communication and ensuring final price is received on time and covers required scope in full
  • Production of final complete estimate for review and inclusion in submission document, including noting critical inclusions and exclusions
  • Production and compilation of client submission documents, including submission report
  • Participate in risk reviews, document and estimate areas of risk and opportunity, particularly relating to major sub-contractors or suppliers
  • Attendance and presentation at review meetings
  • Undertake adhoc tasks as instructed by Changer Control or Commercial Manager and Manager – System Projects
  
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years previous experience in estimating in systems technology / railway systems technology
  • Strong computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Good communication skills (oral & written) and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment
