The Opportunity
A leading facade engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing Sydney team in a full-time permanent capacity.
Operating across Australia and internationally, the business specialises in the design, engineering, fabrication and installation of complex facade systems for large-scale commercial, residential and mixed-use developments.
With expertise in unitised curtain wall systems, architectural glazing, window wall systems and bespoke facade solutions, the company delivers technically challenging projects across high-rise towers, hotels, student accommodation and commercial developments.
This is an opportunity to join a highly respected facade contractor with strong internal engineering capability, international manufacturing support and a substantial pipeline of upcoming work.
 
About the Role
Reporting into senior management, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for facade and external envelope packages across a range of large-scale projects.
You will work closely with Directors, Project Managers, Design Managers, Engineers, Suppliers, Clients and builders.
The role will suit someone with strong technical understanding of facade systems and experience pricing commercial construction packages within the facade, glazing, cladding or architectural building envelope sector.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for facade packages
• Review architectural drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Perform quantity take-offs and material assessments
• Price:
• Unitised curtain wall systems
• Window wall systems
• Aluminium cladding systems
• Architectural glazing packages
• Shopfront systems
• Bespoke facade elements
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing
• Conduct value engineering and cost optimisation reviews
• Assess procurement requirements and lead times
• Work collaboratively with design and engineering teams to develop buildable solutions
• Prepare tender clarifications, inclusions and exclusions
• Assist with budgeting and pre-construction planning
• Attend tender meetings and client discussions where required
• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information
• Support handover to project delivery teams upon award

  
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous estimating experience within:
• Facades
• Curtain wall
• Architectural glazing
• Cladding
• Building envelope systems
• Commercial construction
• Strong understanding of facade systems and construction methodology
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings
• Experience pricing high-rise or large-scale commercial/residential projects
• Excellent commercial and analytical skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management ability
• High attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment
• Proficiency across estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite

The following experience will be viewed favourably:

• Experience with unitised facade systems
• Knowledge of aluminium and glazing procurement
• Exposure to D&C projects
• Understanding of facade engineering principles
• Experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 builders
• Trade or technical background within glazing, aluminium or facade construction
