An exceptional opportunity has become available for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a leading national Tier 2 contractor that continues to build momentum across the Queensland infrastructure market.
With an impressive pipeline of complex transport and civil infrastructure projects, this contractor has established itself as a trusted delivery partner across Australia and is playing a key role in delivering the projects that will shape South East Queensland in the lead-up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The successful candidate will initially take ownership of the engineering and design management function on a landmark $300 million rail infrastructure project, while also becoming a key technical leader supporting future tenders and major project pursuits across the Queensland business.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Project Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing all engineering and design management activities throughout the entire project lifecycle, from tender and design development through to construction and project completion.
Working closely with project delivery teams, designers, clients and key stakeholders, you will ensure engineering outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual, commercial and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering and design management function across complex civil and rail infrastructure projects.
- Manage all internal and external engineering resources to ensure design deliverables are achieved safely, on time and within budget.
- Oversee the coordination, review and approval of design documentation throughout all project phases.
- Ensure engineering solutions satisfy contractual obligations, technical specifications and client requirements.
- Drive engineering governance, technical assurance and compliance processes.
- Lead engineering input throughout construction, resolving technical challenges and managing design changes.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and specialist consultants.
- Manage design interfaces and stakeholder engagement across client, contractor and consultant teams.
- Support commercial outcomes through effective engineering planning, risk management and value engineering initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership across upcoming tenders and project bids within the Queensland business.
- Mentor and develop engineering teams while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Promote best practice in safety, quality and systems engineering throughout project delivery.
We are keen to speak with experienced Engineering Managers or senior Design Managers ready to step into a broader leadership role.
To be successful you will possess:
- Degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Extensive experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 civil infrastructure contractor.
- Demonstrated experience delivering major Design & Construct (D&C) infrastructure projects.
- Strong exposure to rail infrastructure projects, with a thorough understanding of rail engineering requirements.
- Proven knowledge and application of Systems Engineering principles.
- Strong capability managing multidisciplinary design teams and engineering consultants.
- Experience leading engineering through construction on complex civil infrastructure projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills.
- Chartered Engineer status or eligibility (highly regarded).
