Contract Administrator – Defence Project (3-Month Contract | Immediate Start) Location: Sydney CBD Office with regular interaction with project site on the South Coast, NSW
Duration: Initial 3-month contract with strong potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP
About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Contract Administrator to join a major Defence project, supporting procurement and contract administration activities during a critical phase of project delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a high-performing project team on a significant infrastructure program, based from our Sydney office while supporting operations on-site along the NSW South Coast.
The role is offered as an initial 3-month contract with the view to extend based on project requirements and performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support procurement activities across subcontractor and supplier packages
  • Prepare, issue and manage RFQs, tender documentation and procurement schedules
  • Assist with subcontractor engagement, negotiations and contract administration
  • Manage purchase orders, variations, progress claims and contract documentation
  • Maintain accurate procurement and contract records
  • Liaise with project managers, commercial teams, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Monitor procurement timelines and assist in mitigating delivery risks
  • Ensure compliance with project, client and Defence requirements
  • Provide general commercial and administrative support to the project team
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Previous experience as a Contract Administrator, Project Administrator or Procurement Administrator within construction, engineering, infrastructure or Defence environments
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and contract administration principles
  • Experience managing subcontractor and supplier documentation
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment and manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management systems
Desirable
  • Experience working on Defence, government or major infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of Australian Standard contracts and procurement frameworks
  • Existing Defence clearance or ability to obtain one
