About the Position
 
The position of Asset Management Engineer is responsible for the annual update of the asset management plan(s), update of maintenance specifications, contribute to cyclic asset revaluations, prepare capital works submissions, review asset data and submit improvements relating to the assets within the Transport Structures and Beaches & Waterways portfolios. The assets within these portfolios include bridges, major culverts, path structures, retaining walls, beach showers, seawalls, platforms, boat ramps, revetment walls and others.
 
Requirements of the role:
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.
  • Qualification in Asset Management or equivalent knowledge.
  • Undertake, manage, and deliver inspections, design, calculations, cost estimates, risk assessments, damage assessments, specifications and contract documentation for allocated development and maintenance projects.
  • Make recommendations the GM Infrastructure on the awarding of new service contracts.
  • Identify, investigate, and evaluate development and maintenance opportunities and make recommendations to management to ensure NSW Ports’ assets are fit-for-purpose, safe, reliable, and whole-of-life cost efficient and ensure that they are compliant with the maritime and logistics industry requirements.
  • Assist with the delivery of maintenance management systems.
  • Liaise with colleagues, tenants, and other stakeholders to account for matters of access, operations, safety, and security in undertaking any developments and maintenance works.
  • Liaise with and manage tenants to drive the compliant delivery of development projects by tenants in accordance with requirements in leases, licenses, deeds, and environmental planning approvals. Propose improvements to the asset management system, asset registers, asset location codes, reporting efficiencies and assist with the implementation of the Strategic Assets Management Plan.
  • Raise works orders and purchase orders, validate and challenge payment claims and recommend payments in the NSW Ports' asset management and finance systems. 
Required Experience
  • Extensive Project Management Experience. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline preferable but not essential. 
  • Extensive experience in civil engineering projects including design, construction, and maintenance of assets. 
  • Strong commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement with well developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability with computer applications particularly computerised asset management systems like MEX, MS Office, MS Project, spreadsheets, and workflow processing. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively and build relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to think through complex issues, identify solutions and challenge and question the ‘status quo’ (i.e., processes and systems) to facilitate the development of innovative and workable performance improvements.
