Job description

Our client is leading Australia’s biggest public transport infrastructure program, developing and delivering a new world-class metro railway system for Sydney. They are currently seeking an Interface Manager experienced in Rail Stations for an initial 12 month contract.

The Station Interface Manager is primary responsible for liaison between Sydney Trains and Transport for NSW Infrastructure and Place works. The role is responsible for engagement from concept design through the delivery phase, ensuring the operational readiness and the formal acceptance of new assets in locations such as Rail Stations, Commuter Car Parks and transport interchanges. The position is responsible for representing the Sydney Trains and Customer Operations expectations in the delivery of Projects to ensure that said projects meet the site (e.g. Stations) operational and maintenance requirements related to the new or improved facilities meeting the required service and asset standards.

Key accountabilities
  • Manage the Sydney Trains interface responsibilities for projects including communication, consultation, negotiations and expectations with stakeholders (internal and External) and provide Sydney Trains representation at Project interface meetings to ensure proactive stakeholder engagement and problem resolution.
  • Monitor the delivery of projects including assessing business and system requirements specifications whilst identifying the risks and issues and proactively stimulate problem resolution. Track project processes across the program, deliver against the Sydney Tracks governance artifacts (monthly project status reporting, Financial Forecast, schedules).
  • Manage and coordinate the design or construction processes (e.g. Change Control Boards and Station working groups).
  • Contribute to the implementation and delivery of interface procedures and protocols in consultation with the Senior Project Interface Manager to facilitate seamless operation between Sydney Trains and the Project Delivery Agency.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including ASA) involved in delivering quality and timely projects and ensure that customer's interests are represented during planning and construction phases.
  • Coordinate and manage Sydney Trains resources. Facilitate access to rail infrastructure to ensure effective project delivery that meets budget and timeframe requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Facilities Management to ensure a coordinated approach to delivering new works and associated asset management plans that comply with the standards and regulatory bodies.
  • Deliver safety and security activities during all phases of project delivery including monitoring and driving adherence to safety management systems and safety risk management plans and managing the safety change process to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and meet organisational and legislative requirements.
  • Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities consistent with Sydney Trains safety management system requirements which are defined in SMS document number SMS-02-RG-3058. 
Key knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated planning, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through issues with moderate complexity and guide and/or coach others in the resolution of problems. Analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to research and communicate and then apply problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in preparation of management information reports within tight timeframes and strong computer, database and data management skills. Highly developed understanding and knowledge of the safety systems and their application to construction issues in a transport environment.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in communications and stakeholder management with minimal supervision to executive management in a complex organisation.
