OCTOBER 2016 NEWSLETTER

2016-10-21 16:00:00 +1100 by Lawrence Allum

Welcome to the October issue of the CGC Newsletter. In this edition we have an industry update from Jamie Ryde on Property and Client Side Project Management and a debut contribution from Hollie for our CGC social review which will include a report on our End of Quarter wrap.

Property and Client Side Project Management with Jamie Ryde

Earlier on this year, CGC Recruitment stepped into a new realm by utilising its vast connections within the Construction and Engineering industry to aid Clients and Candidates alike in the Property, and in particular, Client Side Project Management sector and it seems that we (as well as numerous candidates!) have been welcomed with open arms!!

We have found that there has been a certain emphasis on staffing needs within the Educational, Health and Infrastructure sectors. With a plethora of work pipelined on various Hospitals, Schools/Universities, we are working with a number Businesses ranging from the boutique Nationals to Tier 1 Multi-Nationals requesting Project Managers with relevant experience.

The essential need for this relevant experience has had the knock on effect of a slight increase in the average Project Managers’ salary and bonus structure.

We have also had the pleasure of attending numerous Property Council events in recent months and we are excited to see what’s kicking off not only in NSW (The Wynyard Regeneration Project will be fantastic when completed!), but proposed projects such as CLARA (Consolidated Land and Rail Australia) and how it could impact Australia as a whole…needless to say, exciting times ahead.

As an emerging force in the Property Sector, I am extremely keen to meet up with Property Professionals. Whether you are looking for a new job, are seeking an extra pair of hands to help you out, or just to have a chin wag about the industry as a whole, I would love to hear your insight! Jamie can be contacted on 0429 180 761 or jamie.ryde@cgcrecruitment.com

The start of October not only brought the warmer weather it also welcomed the arrival of CGC’s newest member, George Hvid, who has settled in to the team extremely well and has even been taking part in late night/early morning Gym and Sauna sessions with some of the team. Fresh off the boat from the UK George joins the team to focus on the recruitment of construction and engineering staff for both contractors and design consultancies in the Rail sector having successfully worked in the same market for over 3 years in London. George can be contacted on 0427933873 or email george.hvid@cgcrecruitment.com

CGC Social

The social calendar has been pretty full over the past few weeks as there has been plenty to celebrate here in CGC. Firstly, last year’s High Achievers were taken out on their much anticipated Celebratory afternoon. The festivities started out at Gowings Bar and Grill where they enjoyed a great lunch, with plenty of laughs and the creation of the controversial ‘Basement’ Selection followed by an Espresso Martini or 5 “Lads”.

Well Done guys, very well deserved!

The start of October also brought to a close another record breaking quarter in Q1 with some truly outstanding individual performances coming through to start the financial year off. The end of Quarter Wrap-up and celebrations kicked off with coffees and pastries all round, before Jim took the lead on talking us through an outstanding company performance for Q1 – a number of significant achievements were deservedly recognised both in terms of outstanding fee deliveries and personal achievements.

We left CGC HQ and set off across the water in our very own “CGC Water Taxi” taking in the views of the stunning Sydney skyline in style, which everyone loved (Well almost everyone – Sorry Hayley!).

After a short journey we arrived at Chowder Bay, where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Ripples right on the water, taking in the surroundings and enjoying some amazing food and wine. Finishing off the lunch with the obligatory Espresso Martinis before jumping back in the Water Taxi and heading over to the Royal Oak at Double bay where we enjoyed plenty of drinks and cocktails on the rooftop terrace. Spirits where high and the banter was definitely flowing well into the night, with a few people ‘cementing” their place into the top memories of the night.

As the numbers dwindled and the majority of the group called it a night, the athletes of the group decided that the only way to finish a great day was with a quick CGC boot camp session before hitting the sack.

An all-round great day and night was had by all, thanks Nick and Jim and of course Glynis for organizing and well done everyone on an amazing quarter.
