Read moreWelcome to the March edition of the newsletter. The year has gotten off to a cracking start here at CGC with all areas of the business extremely busy with multiple roles to fill. This includes our newly opened Brisbane office with David Hope making early inroads into the QLD market and having a busier than expected first quarter there.
In this edition of the newsletter, the industry insight comes from our MEP specialist recruiter David Thompson who will be reflecting on a busy market in his space and reviewing some major projects currently underway. Evan Morgans will be updating you with all things social that have happened within the halls of CGC and I have a sneaky suspicion that this will include a new addition to the CGC family…read below to find out more!
With quarter three of the financial year drawing to end we can reflect on what has been a very busy period (traditionally it’s our quietist). In a very brief summary it’s fair to say the construction market in NSW is booming with no sign of letting up. The general consensus across the office (all areas of construction) is there is a shortage of candidates. Personally, recruiting drafters, specifically Revit MEP drafters, has had its challenges over the last few months.
On the 1st of March Sydbim held its first meeting of 2016. It was a very informative evening with Michael Parkes from Hansen & Yuncken and Ian Hardcastle from Laing O’Rourke as the guest speakers. It was good to get the head contractors perspective on BIM, how they utilise it and its advantages to their businesses. Interestingly, comments and questions from the floor were focussed on measuring the value of BIM. Both speakers were clear that it added a huge amount of value to the business but they couldn’t quantify it in dollars and cents. The monetary value can only be measured in the years to come.
If you are looking for either a contract or permanent position in the Revit MEP space, please get in contact with either David Thompson 0400 516 014 or James Loomes 0431 946 382.
The big news this month is the arrival of the latest CGC bambino, as Nick Curtis and his partner Sammi welcomed young Ralph to the world!
Nick’s “ice cool” personality will definitely be put to the test with 6 months of late nights to come!
In other news James Loomes celebrated his 2 year anniversary with CGC, (seems like longer) so congratulations to James for making it through. Little Nic Maplestone celebrated his 23rd birthday this month, he is into “Big Boy” shoe sizes at last!, congrats to Nic.
Also this month the CGC fitness crew welcomed a visit from one of British Boxing’s finest, John Murray. John, a former undefeated British & European Champion as well as world title challenger, and all round legend, put the lads through their paces and set a very high bar for the rest of this year’s sessions.
Even the brightness of Billy Vesey’s Gola High Tops and knee high Slazenger socks combo couldn’t ruin the team’s focus on this hard core boxing fitness session.
